Céline Cousteau and World Resources Institute Host Fundraiser for Ocean Inspiration
Event to Honor the Legacy of Jacques Cousteau
NEW YORK -- On August 18th Céline Cousteau and World Resources Institute (WRI) will host a reception and fundraiser for the upcoming event Ocean Inspiration, a tribute to famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau’s 100th anniversary.
Held at Ana Tzarev Gallery in New York City (24W 57th St), the reception and live auction will include presentations by Céline Cousteau of CauseCentric Productions, and Lauretta Burke of WRI’s Reefs at Risk Initiative.
Ocean Inspiration will take place October 9 and 10 in New York City. As the name suggests, the event will celebrate ocean advocacy in all forms: scientific inquiry as well artistic expression, and thus will include an art exhibition, short films, music, and dance performances in addition to a public forum on the future of the oceans. Panelists will include celebrated and acclaimed ocean advocates such as Dr. Carl Safina and Dr. Sylvia Earle. There will also be a storytelling panel comprised of people who worked with Jacques Cousteau and accompanied him on his missions.
As much a celebration as a call to action, Ocean Inspiration will help foster community between the many diverse groups who support ocean and environmental causes and conservation in equally diverse ways. Proceeds from Ocean Inspiration will benefit WRI’s Reefs at Risk Initiative http://www.wri.org/project/reefs-at-risk.
